Flood Risk Assessment in Burton
FloodPlan were approached and commissioned by an FTSE100 company for consultancy advice and for the procurement of a Flood Risk Assessment for a proposed development in Burton. The site is located within Flood Zone 2/3.
The site is an existing industrial / commercial facility. The land in question suffered from fluvial flood risk. The development proposed the erection of additional industrial warehouse space.
Floodplan contacted the Environment Agency to obtain the latest hydraulic flood modelling data available. Floodplan assessed the the flood depths, velocities, hazard ratings as well as other considerations such as the speed of flooding onset. The flood modelling identified that the site was considered to be at risk from low levels of flooding during the extreme ‘design event’.
Floodplan identifies a flood free FFL the property should be set at. Floodplan also provided the client with flood compensation calculations to ensure no net negative impacts to third parties. The client was very happy that the location of the proposed warehouse would not have to be moved.
The Flood Risk Assessment was submitted to the Planning Authority for review, and accepted. Planning Permission was granted.
